Linux wiki

Mdirs

MDIRS started in 1992, as a single page document listing directory structures. It was derived from Unix System 5 Administration documents. The document included additions of user managed volumes under /u or /u1 directories.

Rewriting of MDIRS began in 2004, to produce better sharing of resources, over traditional directory structures, between a network server, satellite stations, and stand alone workstations and laptops, and to create better provision for a smaller footprint operating system for use on bootable diskettes.
