Red Hat 9 Linux review Installation: Installing RH is extremely simple for all users. RH, by having five preset installations: Personal Desktop Installations, Workstation Installations, Server Installations ,Custom Installations ,Upgrading Your System. Each has different applications and processes it will install. Whether you’re installing a server or a workstation it still will run just as fast. For users that aren’t sure what the need or don’t need for their RH9 there is a Full installation option or for users who need minimal things there is an option for that. Applications in KDE: If you’re a first time Linux user KDE is a Windows like environment with web browsers, text editor, instant messaging, html editor, games and LOTS more. If your worried about switching and not being able to talk to your friends on AIM, MSN or ICQ don’t worry because RH come preloaded with GAIM which incorporates those there into one easy messenger like Trillion. What about web browning? Well Mozillia handles that. It is based off of the Netscape browser. It functions just like IE and has plugins for java, flash and more. Openoffice.org is an open source version of Microsoft Word. There are a number of different kinds of text editors for Linux. Installing RPMs is extremely easy just click on them. Most can be found on the internet or RH9 network. All your applications stay totally up to date when you use the RH9 network (like a windows update site). For game players it comes with Wine which emulates windows for windows programs. Conclusion: RedHat 9 is a perfect version of Linux for all users from Large Cooperation’s or Small Clan server.
