Knoppix 3.4 review and kudos

Pray to whatever GOD to say thanks for Knoppix. Finally we have the power to ditch Microsloth. And never go back. Yay.

I have a compaq presario 1211ca that boots and installs knoppix like a dream. I have to remember to type knoppix nousb knoppix lang=en for the next install tho cuz my keyboard is german and i cant fix it...anyoneÉ . anyways the knoppix thing is really amazing. I recomend this to anyone try the puppydog for a day or two...you will be wanting to install it to your harddrive like me in no time. http://www.freenet.org.nz/misc/knoppix-install.html

I got to say that I was interested along time ago in linux and found it too much work. The shell is the thing that needs user friendliness upgrading. My experience with it was hampered my my insane desire to stay in bed with microsofty. My purchase 3 years ago of the windows notebook was a great investment and though hampered by the crappy OS I found myself saving money while my friends all went out and blew amazing amount of money on videocard after videocard new this that and the software for it. I was afraid to commit to linux for this machine, that the windows would never comeback and that my warranty would expire if I messed with the OS.

Those days are over. LiveCDs have been around for over a year now but I only just found out recently. For me the real fear was committing to having no windows and not enough linux experience to get the peripherals up and running properly. Alas Knoppix traverses my doorstep via Mandrakemove, the first LiveCD Ièd heard of. I burned the CD on my buddies XP machine and booted it on mine then his machines. I was able to get it on shortly and was surfing before I knew it. I immediately wanted to install and run stuff but my WINDOZE was in the way. My friends XP machine booted cleanly.
Mandrake move never ran on either of our machines...my first CD I ever burnt maybe itwas me...
So I got to ditch Bill and download all of 7 iso s for debian. I burn them to CD-R. I install and partition and well it won t find my eth0 or soundcard like knoppix did. So i goto boot Knoppix again after thinking for awhile and while surfing I found a string to install it from root. sudo knoppix-install but there is probably a better way.

I put it on. It is now a GNU Linux machine. with sound and eth0! No configuration...except for the initial boot from Knoppix LiveCD. I went to mozilla and downloaded firefox which installed smoother than anything I ever installed in the other OS. My DSL modem connects me and my buds XP through a SMC router easier than windows. These are the things that prompt me to say CHUCK BILL! I heard they want to block LiveCDs politically so everyone should get moving and burn at least 3 copies for each machine give them out and tell them to burn 3 copies too if they like it.

I am really looking forward to Knoppix 3.4 . I hope Mr Knopper gets a good team built because he is gonna get busy.
